The weather way up here in northern Minnesota is goofy, ya know.
According to the forecasters we’re looking at our first significant snowfall tonight. West of here the winds will be 25-40 mph with 4-8 inches of snow. The coming week is expected to be blustery and in the 40’s. And just like that, the cycling season is over.
I’m not sure whether it’s the jet stream, a disruption in the space-time continuum, or the high percentage of Norwegians living up here – but the change in seasons is like a marble rolling off the edge of a table. One day you’re admiring the folliage, the next you’re pulling insulated pac-boots from the back of the closet. One day you’re eating salad for dinner, the next you have a craving for tater-tot hotdish and fried cheeze curds.
YAH, DAT’S FOR SHURE YOUBETCHA.
You have to get your miles while you can up here.
This glorious eight week interruption of winter and mud season that we call summer must be savored. We need to recreate with purpose. We in the Northcountry know a good thing when we see it, and are proud to say that no one call tell how long it’ll last. It’s our own brand of joyful pesimism.
YAH THE SQUIRRELS, THEY GOT A THICK COAT DIS YEAR…I SEEN IT BEFORE…BAD WINTER COMIN’
And just like that.
